In 1987, Sandra´s in-law started to make these pansies in resin in Holland. After 2 years of trying and throwing everything in the garbage again, the process was discovered with the help of some chemists. The main problem occured everytime the resin was put on the flower, the flower became brown and rotten. Putting a chemical product onto a natural flower is not obvious, but he managed. And in all these years nobody could find out the right process, so we keep that into our family. In 2007 Sandra started to make these jewels from dried pansies on Lanzarote.
THE MAKING PROCESS.
The flowers, pansies are importes by plane from Holland (Leeuwarden) and dried on Lanzarote. When the flowers are dried (inbetween wood) they lose the colour. Sandra paints them with a silkpaint. Then the flowers are dried again and we put on a UV filter to keep their colour nice for ever. Then the flowers are set in a crystal resin, polished and made into jewelry.
All together the process takes 3 weeks and every flower is costing us more then an hour to do.
Roughly 30% is thrown away after production because they are not perfect enough to sell. Flower not good after drying, color bad, resin with bubbels, .....
Jewelry of resin in strong enough for a lifetime of pleasure. They are impossible to break. Each piece is exclusive and handmade on Lanzarote.
To clean them just use a glass cleaner and a dry cloth.
All procducts are anti allergic. We use NO nickel in our process.
Sandra makes necklaces, earrings, brooches, pendants, hairslides, ... from the dried pansies.
Every item is available in all possible colours, every season we try to make a new colour.
