Sandra, born in 1976 (35 years) under the smoke of Brussels Belgium. Her final study from 1994 to 1996 in Mechelen was photography and graphic arts.
Together with her friend Jaap, who she met at her 21st, they led a traveling life for years, they lived in Ibiza, in Marbella, in the Canary Islands and Rotterdam.
Her dream was always to life under the sun of handcrafts , and after years of wandering how to do this, she found her place under the sun of Lanzarote.
After a tour of 8 months with their sailboat by the Mediterranean Sea, while they were impressed in many places and islands by the beautiful plants and flowers, the idea was born to make jewelry of flowers.
After training with a family member who has already 20 years experience of making jewelry of dried flowers, Sandra and Jaap left early 2007 the Netherlands in their sailboat for a tour of all the Canary Islands. At the end of the summer they have thrown out the bunches in Lanzarote and have begun to realize their dream. Creating unique jewelry with real flowers.
After a few months, we start to sell our jewelry in 4 star hotels and at the local handicraft markets.
Sandra is always looking for new, original things. Because we lived on our boat with a pool of natural products as our backyard, it seemed a good idea to design and make jewelry with pearls and coral. Meanwhile, that spread to other stones from nature and other original beggar found during our many trips.
After 2 years selling on the markets in Lanzarote, Sandra opened a shop in the `Centro de Artesania´ in Yaiza, only 100 meters from the market. This was a great succes from the first day. People were hired to sell the jewelry.
During what became her last sailing trip to Tenerife in 2010 a shop was rented in Puerto de la Cruz to sell all Sandra´s products. This shop is being runned by a German lady Gaby in the Calle La Hoya 51, the main walkingstreet of Puerto la Cruz.
The ship what brought her to Lanzarote is sold due to illness of her friend, Jaap.
A house with studio was decorated in Playa Blanca because it was impossible to make all the jewelry on board.
Meanwhile, her jewelry is also available at various stores in Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, England, Spain.
And she attracted other handworkers to sell there jewelry in her shops.
Meanwhile people loved the way she decorated her house and she was asked to do the whole decoration of different rentalvillas and private houses.
This is now a new hobby what became kind of a part time job.
Sandra find it also important to invest a bit of time in the comunity. She is working voluntarily for the Dutch Consulate to visit Dutch prisoners who do there time in jail in Lanzarote. And she is a contact for the ANWB on Lanzarote, a Dutch organisation for tourists with problems while traveling. Like illness, death, car problems, ...
